no but elriels really fucking hate Elain and specially gwyn. let me tell you as it is.

all the scenarios and “theories” they have about their little ship has to do with Elain doing something she wouldn’t be comfortable with and they all reduce gwyn to being nothing more than a SA survivor.

Let me get into Elain first. All their theories are either Elain saving Az so in other words her being nothing more than a plot device for a male or Elain and Az being some sort of spy couple that go around being “badass” and torturing people despite Elain hating violence. In thier eyes her development revolves around Az and the two just end up doing something that would only make sense for Az to do.

Now for the bulk of this post: how much they hate gwyn (and gwynriel)

I’m not sure how prevalent this is on Tumblr because I come here to not have to see elriels like on Twitter, but over there like every single time someone makes a NSFW comment or drawing about Gwyn and Az these bitches pop a lung reminding people that Gwyn as a SA survivor (because to them she is nothing more than that) shouldn’t be placed in such scenarios and people are horrible for “pushing her” into sex headcanons with Az.

They are out here saying Gwyn isn’t comfortable with sex and shouldn’t be imagined in such a way and yet here they are imagining Elain living in a world of violence despite it making her uncomfortable, ok.

I don’t know why they think saying such things makes them high and mighty and right when

1. Was she reading my little pony when Nesta and Em were reading smutty books?????  no she was reading the same smutty books with them

2. “sHe’s uComFortABLe aRoUnd meN” okay, true………….BUT NOT AZ FOR FUCKS SAKE

3. She was alone with him at solstice and REQUESTED private lessons from him. Going by their fucking logic Az is a horrible man for being alone with gwyn because as a SA survivor she can never be comfortable around men, he should ignore her wishes because being alone with her wouldn’t fit the narrative they have for her as a survivor

4. There is no one way for survivors to heal. In fact these nasty bitches pushing the idea that Gwyn being imagined to be having sex with Az is bad are the terrible ones in my opinion because they completely ignore her agency as a survivor and adult who is healing and is interested in sex, ignore her healing like she can’t possibly be interest in sex any time soon because she hasn’t taken steps 1-10 so whatever possibility between her and sex and men is off the table until she does something a certain way.

The thing that really pisses me of, I mean makes me fume is that they are literally gatekeeping how SA survivors heal and deal with their trauma, and they label any person that talks about or draws Gwyn and Az having sex as horrible people. Gwyn is a fictional character but she represents real survivors and here these fuckers are saying that anything sexual involving Gwyn is wrong because how dare fans insinuate that a SA survivor has sex, how dare they make scenarios where she is with someone who she trusts and respects her.

News flash assholes, making scenarios about Gwyn and Az being sexual isn’t ignoring her trauma or healing, or pushing her through a “speedy recovery” it’s acknowledging that she can and will heal (through whatever means in whatever way to whatever extent) and will have someone who she trusts and respects her by her side. But you know what, reducing her to nothing more than a survivor with nothing to do until she is 100% healed (whatever the fuck that means) is shit. Just say that 1. You don’t like Gwyn (or women in general as it seems with Elain too) 2. You detest Gwynriel because it’s not your little ship and shut up

I don’t get why elriels think that saying gwyn is a side character is a drag? like yeah she is a side/ supporting character in acosf because thats nesta’s story but that doesn’t mean that she can’t have her own?

By that logic Elain will also never get her story because she is a side character, very minor, actually. In ACOSF we got less of her (way less of her) than gwyn and she’s nesta’s sister. In the whole series we know less about Elain than gwyn. We are on book 4 plus a novella and Elain’s feelings and thoughts are still a mystery. Meanwhile we know gwyn’s backstory and she had a major character arc in acosf, she’s a Valkyrie and Carynthian. And there’s the fact that she wants to get better, she wants to leave the library, she’s more than a priestess. That’s a good set up for a story with amazing projection. And what does Elain want? yeah we don’t know. (Note: this isn’t anti Elain I’m just saying how things are and she will have more character development and an arc in her own book with Lucien, thank you very much.)

We know she will get a story because she’s one of the sisters but that’s the biggest indicator. If we were to decide whether she would get her own story based on what we’ve gotten from her, a lot of people (elriels) would say she wouldn’t because she’s just a side character like gwyn.

And the take on gwyn being introduced too late to be an important character is also laughable. the point of there being more books outside of feyre’s pov is to expand the world of acotar……….which means introducing new characters and places, that should be pretty understandable for any story……..
